Playstation 4 Japan Release Set For 2014

Sony has revealed that the Japanese launch of the Playstation 4 won’t happen until 2014. This is supposedly due to the “availability of content” as Sony believe that western games are further ahead in development. Sony want to make sure that the release of the console in its native country has a good number of games for the Japanese market.

This confirms that Europe and North America will get the console before Japan which sees its release date set for 22nd February 2014. An edition of the PS4, the ‘First Limited Pack’, will be available and will contain a code for a copy of Knack as well as a year’s guarantee for the console.

This news actually came as a surprise to me but Sony’s reasoning for the delay is sound. With the Japanese market being very different to that of Europe and North America, it makes sense to have a good game line-up for each market before release. What about you guys? Will this impact you? Let us know below!
