New Pokemon Anime Announced along with possible Wii U game

A brand new one of Pokemon anime, named Pokemon: The Origin has been announced to tie in with the release of the upcoming 3DS games, Pokemon X and Y, along with footage of what could possible be a new game for the Wii U.

The Origin is to be based off the original game boy color game, Pokemon Red, and follows trainer Red as he sets off on his journey. It seems to be following the path of the game, gaining his first Pokemon out of the original three choices, a Charmander, facing of against the first Gym Leader, Brock and even the traditional rival makes an appearance. My personal favorite moment was spotting Charmander appearing to be using Scratch against Brock’s Geodude.

What has also sparked a lot of talk is the footage at the end of the video below, showing a battle between Mega Lucario and Mega Blaziken. Many speculate that the footage is from a game for the Wii U. Given that the rest of the video goes through past Pokemon games right up to the upcoming Pokemon X and Y, and that the mystery footage is shown after that, and the quality of its graphics, I feel its a safe bet that it is a tease for a future Pokemon game for the Wii U.

I’m sure a new Pokemon anime will be welcomed by many people and personally I am liking the homage it pays to the original game Pokemon Red. If it turns out the mystery game footage is for a new Wii U game then that would be great news to, hopefully it would be another great Nintendo exclusive, perhaps a much needed one with the lack of games on the console.

Anyone excited for the new anime, Pokemon: The Origin? would you like to see a new Pokemon game for the Wii U?

Thanks to Nintendo Life for the Spot.
