Child Of Light Co-Op Inspired By Super Mario Galaxy
The newly announced game, Child of light, has a co-op mode in it, one inspired by the popular Nintendo Wii game, Super Mario Galaxy.
Recently announced by Ubisoft, Child of Light is a plat-former with both puzzles to solve and monsters to fight. The story involves you guiding a princess through the Kingdom of Lemuria, a visually stunning fairytale world, to gather three sources of light in order to stop the Black Queen.
The game also features a second character that is playable in co-op, an addition inspired by Super Mario Galaxy. Speaking with Polygon, the creative director on the game, Patrick Plourde, spoke about how they wanted a second character to allow parents to play with their children, a character that offers support to the princess, ‘so I had the idea of what if we took the Super Mario Galaxy approach where you have a character that helps? What if he could move around on the screen and it’s not a nuisance for the parent’.
The name of the second character is Igniculus, a little floating ball of blue light, pictured in the image above if you can spot it. Ingniculus gives who ever is controlling it the ability to slow down the enemies attacks and can even heal other players, a useful ally to have and one that should make for enjoyable co-op.
Good news for Nintendo fans as well, Child of Light is also a multi-platform game that will not be missing out the Wii U. It should be interesting to see how the controllers features are used for the game, hopefully in unique ways.
Child of Light is coming sometime in 2014. What are your first impressions then? Do you like the sound of the co-op character?
