Microsoft Offering Free Games To Those Affected By Malfunctioning Consoles

As I’m sure many of you have heard, and a few of you have experienced, Microsoft’s next gen console has seen a small number of units malfunctioning. The issue appears to be related to the disc drive ‘grinding’ and being unable to read discs. While the number of people affected by the problem is small, the inconvenience and annoyance is undoubtedly huge!

As a means of apology, Microsoft are offering those affected a choice of a free game between several of the Xbox One’s launch titles. The titles on offer include Forza Motorsport 5, Ryse: Son Of Rome, Dead Rising 3, and Zoo Tycoon. The games are digital copies so will still work on those consoles experiencing disc drive problems.

Alongside this, Microsoft are offering an enhanced console replacement service, they are sending out replacement consoles before users actually send theirs off to Microsoft for repair. This means that not only will users get a replacement console faster, they can also still play digital games (including their free game from above) on their faulty Xbox One until they ship it off.

If you have been affected by a faulty Xbox One, you should contact Microsoft if you haven’t already! You can also leave us a comment and let us know your story!

Jolly decent of them. Guess it’s the least they could do though.
