GTA V Successfully Rated In Australia

If you’ve been keeping up with the latest news, you will have probably heard about Saint’s Row IV having issues with the Australian Classification Board in getting a rating. It has actually failed twice now, but Volition are working on providing an Australia-safe version. State Of Decay also had trouble getting it’s Australian rating, but was accepted after issues relating to in-game drug use were resolved.

With these two games having so much trouble you would think that Grand Theft Auto V would fall into the same situation. Surprisingly however, the Australian Classification Board gave it an R18+ rating and the game will be available for sale in Australia. The game garnered such a rating primarily due to ‘High Impact’ drug use in the game. Other themes such as violence were seen as less of a problem with them only receiving a ‘Strong Impact’ rating. You can see the classification details here.

So, good news for Australian gamers! Hopefully Saint’s Row IV will soon follow! Let us know what you guys think in the comments!
