Free-To-Play Renegade X Gets Release Date And Trailer
Originally beginning life six years ago as an Unreal Tournament Mod, Renegade X is a fan made game that is being released as a stand alone free-to-play title, and one that has come on a long way since it first started development. Set within the Command and Conquer world, the game puts players on the ground in a first/third person perspective, differing from the official games firmly set within the RTS (real time strategy) genre.
Set to combine traditional RTS elements and first person shooting action, a combination that will help set this apart from other shooters, Renegade X’s primary multiplayer mode, Command & Conquer, forms the majority of the game and will have players attempting to destroy the other teams bases. These bases will offer access to various bonuses (such as extra weapons) so destroying them will weaken the enemy. With the addition of a small single player campaign Renegade X finally gives the chance for Command and Conquer fans to view the world from another view.
Renegade X is set for release on PC come 26/02/2014 and you can check out the official site here (once its up).
What are your thoughts on a hybrid of RTS and first person shooter genres? Command and Conquer fans, excited or worried by this game?
